Salary: TV-L Ost wage group E13
The open position is in the scientific department Plasma Process Technology that exhibits leading expertise in the development of plasma processes for synthesis of nanomaterials and thin layers for varying applications such as energy storage and conversion or chemical sensors. For the project “Plasma-assisted Synthesis of Graphene from Liquid Precursors” we are looking to recruit for the location in Greifswald as of 1st February 2018 or as soon after.
Your Tasks
Graphene is a high-performance electrode material for devices in sustainable energy conversion and storage. In a highly multidisciplinary approach, this project aims at the optimization of process parameters to improve graphene quality by means of advanced plasma diagnostics and materials analysis. Work will be will be conducted in close collaboration with other team members and project partners.
- You will investigate plasma-enhanced synthesis processes of graphene from different organic precursors.
- You will establish an optimized cell for carrying out well-defined and stable processes for the synthesis of graphene.
- You will implement and adapt optical and electric plasma diagnostic methods for investigating the properties of the plasma applied in processing.
- You will coordinate and evaluate data from materials and chemical analysis to assess and monitor the quality of the product and identify intermediates and reactions mechanism.
- Experimental results will regularly be communicated to the project team and partners. Oral and written presentation of research outcome at project meetings and international conferences.
Your Profile:
- Good or very good university-level qualification in the field of physics, chemistry, materials engineering or related fields.
- Former experiences in applying plasma discharges in liquids and application in nanomaterials synthesis, in especially designing electrocatalysts, will be of major advantage.
- Excellent team working and communication skills
- Fluent written and spoken English language
- Structured way of working, high commitment and self-initiative to contribute to a vibrant and stimulating research environment.
We Offer
