Position Summary
The position is a full-time temporary employment for a maximum of four years. Progress will be assessed after two years. You are expected to achieve associate professor expertise within four years. Given you fulfil the individual performance criteria for an associate professorship within four years, the department intends to support your internal recruitment to a tenured position. The precise focus of the research will be decided by the successful candidate, but a strong interest in development of new methodologies for covalent and/or non-covalent functionalization of graphene is required. In particular, we are looking for candidates with a good track record in producing, processing and functionalizing. The position is motivated by the desire for chemical expertise in the local strong graphene research community and the EU research initiative on graphene – the Graphene Flagship.
Qualifications
PhD in Synthetic Chemistry, or related area of study, and 1-2 years of relevant postdoctoral experience. To be succesful you need to be highly motivated, have a will of making your curiosity and creativity into reallity. Further you must be self propelled and independent but still cultivating the skills of others and building well-functioning teams.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English and Swedish, the latter in the long run if non-native speaker. If Swedish is not your native language, Chalmers offers Swedish courses. You are expected to be able to participate in teaching at courses given in Swedish at the undergraduate level after two years, i.e. to have a Swedish language proficiency sufficient to understand course specific questions from the students in Swedish.
